Youth Band that encourages the youth of the area to join a team and learn music by playing a number of various instruments or train to be a majorette or a flag carrier in the colour guard. Provides live entertainment To advance the education and raise the level of artistic taste of the general public in appreciation of music by performing music of a high quality to a high standard through the medium of the accordion band. The band represents a symbolic symbol from their community when fully uniformed and taking parts in parades and competitions. The band has represented its community in various prestigious events such as The Rose of Tralee, St. Patrick's Day parades with the highlight of taking part in the national parade in Dublin and the Lord Mayor's parade in Belfast 2011 this was a monumental piece of history as it was the first time ever that a Marching Band was asked to participate. By participating in this event we have been used by Belfast City Council as a promotional tool for tourism on behalf of the Belfast City Council. The band enter competitions under the umbrella of the Ulster Marching Band Association and gain first in all parades and competitions. We are 3 years running Ulster Marching Champions and 1 year All Ireland Marching Band Champions, 3 prestigious Ulster Fleadh titles at Senior and Junior level followed on by 3 All Ireland Senior Fleadh Cheoil titles. The band receives a large number of invites yearly they play at various functions, play at various charity fun raisers and council events throughout the year raising money for local hospice services, chest heart & stroke, sending volunteers from local schools to Zambia and participating in cross community concerts organised by Kilkeel Presbyterian Church. The beneficiaries are the general public. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from the purposes.
